What slot payouts mean
"Payout" is used loosely in casino marketing. It can mean any of the following: the size of a single winning combination, the total prizes a slot has paid in a given month, or the long-term theoretical return of the game (RTP). When comparing casinos and slots, always confirm which definition is being used.
RTP explained simply
RTP - return to player - is the percentage of all wagered money a slot is mathematically expected to return over millions of spins. A 96% RTP slot is expected to pay back $96 for every $100 wagered, on average and over time. The remaining 4% is the house edge.
RTP does not promise you any specific result during a single visit. Read the full explainer at slot RTP explained.
Slot volatility explained simply
Volatility (also called variance) describes how a slot's wins are distributed. Two slots with identical 96% RTP can feel completely different: one pays often in small amounts; the other rarely, but in large amounts. See slot volatility explained for the full breakdown.
High-limit slot odds
High-limit slots do not automatically have better odds. The published RTP is what matters, not the bet size. See do high-limit slots have better odds?.
Casinos with high slot payouts
"High payout" casinos either publish independently audited payout reports or are simply marketing themselves with the term. Our comparison framework shows what to actually verify.
Why max bet does not guarantee better odds
The RNG does not adjust to your stake. Higher max bets simply scale wins and losses upward - same percentages, larger numbers.
Slot payouts FAQ

By the studio over hundreds of millions of simulated spins. The figure is theoretical and is only realised over very long time-frames, not within a single session.
No. RTP is independent of stake. The only exception is if a jackpot bonus pool is excluded for sub-max stakes; even then the base game RTP is unchanged.
High-volatility slots pay larger, less frequent wins; low-volatility slots pay smaller, more frequent wins. Same RTP, very different session experience.
Inside the game info / paytable screen, or on the studio's official spec sheet. Reputable casinos display this without hiding it.
